Veteran actor Manobala, who has also directed more than 20 films in his four-decade-old career, is the latest Tamil celebrity to have joined the web series bandwagon. Titled Mr Uthaman, the series directed by Nizhanth Loganathan, has Sacchin Nachiyappan and Pranika Dhakshu playing lead roles in it.
Sacchin was last seen in Nayanthara-starrer Netrikann, which was premiered on Disney+ Hotstar, while Pranika is popular through a few series which were released on YouTube. The makers had recently released the trailer of Mr Uthaman on StayTuned YouTube channel, on which the series is expected to drop soon. Kadhal Cafe and Sagiye were the recent web series which were released on the channel earlier.
Manobala says that he was happy and curious when he forayed into the web space. According to him, it was the enthusiasm in trying new things which made him sign the project. Talking to OTTplay, the actor says, "I play a fictional character, that of a God, in the web series. I keep giving advices to the protagonist whenever he is in trouble. The director said that he had written the character keeping me in mind. The entire crew, except me, was full of youngsters and newbies. It was really fun to work with a talented bunch of people."
The actor, who recently wrapped up Seenu Ramasamy's Idi Muzhakkam, expresses happiness for landing interesting roles in Malayalam and Telugu. He adds, "I recently wrapped up a couple of films in Malayalam and Telugu. I was excited with the different roles I was offered there. The young filmmakers there told me that they wanted to cast me as soon as they completed the scripts. Unlike the regular comedy roles for which I'm approached in Tamil, the characters I was offered in Malayalam and Telugu had more emotional depth."
