Exclusive! Mosharraf Karim and Ananya Chatterjee team up for iconic Adarsha Hindu Hotel on OTT?

Adarsha Hindu Hotel is arguably one of the iconic novels by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. Published in 1940, the novel delves into the life of a mere pice hotel cook – Hajari Thakur – who dreams big, and despite clashes from his co-worker Padma and owner Bechu Chakraborty, opens his own hotel.

Adarsha Hindu Hotel has been adapted on screens on a number of occasions. In 1957, Ardhendu Sen made a film with Chhabi Biswas, Dhiraj Bhattacharya, Sabitri Chatterjee, Jahar Ganguly, and others. Years later, legendary actor Manoj Mitra played Hajari Thakur in Raja Sen’s television adaptation of the novel for Doordarshan. 

According to sources, the novel will again be adapted. This time for an OTT platform, Friday. Sources said that the show will be helmed by Arindam Sil with Mosharraf Karim playing Hajari Thakur. National Award-winner Ananya Chatterjee may also play the character of Padma. The shooting was initially scheduled to begin in September. However, now the shooting may start in January.

Helmed by Camellia Productions, OTT platform Friday is scheduled to be launched soon. A number of projects, including Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s Gana Debota, are lined up for the platform. Meanwhile, Arindam Sil’s Jongole Mitin Mashi, with Koel Mallick in the lead, will be released during Durga Puja. This is the second chapter of Suchitra Bhattacharya’s detective character, Mitin Mashi.
