The first Tamil series from Amazon Prime Video, Suzhal - The Vortex, produced and scripted by popular filmmaker duo Pushkar and Gayatri, has been receiving tremendous response from the audience and critics. Directed by Bramma and Anucharan, the project which features eight episodes revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a girl and the intriguing incidents that follow.
In a chat with OTTplay, Pushkar and Gayatri revealed that they have plans to come up with a sequel to Suzhal, though it's too early to talk about it. "We are keen on a sequel. We have to start writing for the second season. Let's see what we can do," the Vikram Vedha filmmakers said.
Aishwarya Rajesh, Parthiban, Kathir and Sriya Reddy play pivotal roles in the series which has been garnering appreciation for effective twists and interesting character arcs. Quiz them about the character which provided them fun and challenge while scripting, and the duo immediately say it's the role essayed by Harish Uthaman.
Pushkar: We had to come up with multiple drafts for his characterization as it involves a lot of unexpected traits. We wanted every character to stand out and were keen on working on multiple layers for all of them. The character played by Kathir too was interesting to write.
Harish's role, though comes across as a typical "corporate villain" which Tamil cinema has been witnessing frequently for a while, goes through a remarkable character arc. What made you think about bringing in a different angle for him?
Gayatri: Most of us tend to judge people based on their appearance, their body language, ethnicity and other factors. We wanted to give a spin to the character thereby bidding adieu to the stereotype associated with such characters.
Pushkar: Sometimes, we take people for granted, become judgmental and behave in an unfair manner without realizing that their feelings are harmed. We come across instances where people surprise us with unknown facets of their behaviour. This aspect was the driving force behind the surprise element in Harish's character.
