Exclusive! Rajneeti: Madhurima Basak joins Kaushik Ganguly, Ditipriya Roy, Koneenica and others

Madhurima Basak rose to fame with her shades of negative characters on television. Her characters in hit mega serials like Mohor made her a household name. She is currently playing yet another mean girl in Chini. However, the actress did not restrict herself only to the floors of television sets. She worked in films and OTT. With Srijit Mukherji, she worked in X=Prem and later, worked as a lead in a web series, Lady Queen Gents Parlour, on Addatimes.

Now Madhurima is all set to join the cast of Rajneeti. The shooting of the second season has started and the actress is expected to join the team. According to sources, she will play a new character in the show that features Kaushik Ganguly, Ditipriya Roy, Koneenica Banerjee, Arjun Chakrabarty, Shyamal Chakraborty and others.

The first season of the show that was dropped last year is about the family of a powerful politician Rathin Banerjee (Kaushik) – MP of Rijpur. His daughter, Rashi Banerjee, played by Ditipriya meets with an accident and loses her memory. In her journey of reclaiming her memory, she finds out the deep and dark secrets of her family. In the first season, Rathin dies of a heart attack at a political rally. The show ends with a tussle between Rashi and her mother, played by Koneenica, the emerging successor of Rathin. However, OTTplay has reported that Kaushik Ganguly will be back in the second season. According to sources, he will play a double role in the series.

Meanwhile, Madhurima was busy shooting Arindam Sil’s Ekti Khuner Sandhane Mitin – the third film of the Mitin Mashi franchise. Koel Mallick will be back as the brave detective character, while Madhurima will be seen as an important character. On the other hand, she was scheduled to work in the second season of Gobhir Joler Mach. However, that did not materialise due to several reasons. Also, Saurav Das and Roshni Bhattacharya were also scheduled to join Rajneeti. However, that did not materialise either.
