Actress-producer Rima Kallingal, who was last seen in Yuvan Yuvathi in Tamil, made a comeback to Kollywood after a decade with the recently released Chithirai Sevvaanam, which started streaming on Zee5 a week ago. Having co-produced a few movies with her filmmaker husband Aashiq Abu, Rima says she might wield the megaphone if everything falls in place.
She says, "I have seriously thought about giving filmmaking a shot. Most of our films highlight masculine gender; the male view points have often been touched upon. I would love to explore the different angles of the other side."
The actress, who feels that female and LGBTQ representation are quite rare in Indian movies, expresses her interest in looking at their emotions in an unexplored manner. "I would love to depict their day-to-day lives; I want to know which emotion dominates them most of the time," she says.
Rima adds that though she may not necessarily portray a LGBTQ character, she would like to come up with her perspective on their lives.
However, she makes it clear that she is not in a hurry to make her directorial debut. "You can expect my debut as a filmmaker, but not anytime soon. I think people are always in a hurry to judge me and come to conclusions whenever I try my hands at something new," Rima says.
"When we started producing films, there were speculation that I will act only in movies that are produced under our banner. So, I want to make it clear once for all that my directorial debut will happen whenever I feel I am completely ready," she adds.
