Exclusive! Sahana Dutta on Kolonko: This show is all about conflict between truth and lies

Creator-director Sahana Dutta is ready with yet another complex and layered drama, Kolonko, which will be streamed on Hoichoi from January 19 onwards. Directed by Abhimanyu Mukherjee, the web series features Raima Sen, Ritwick Chakraborty, Srijla Guha, and others. Before the release, the maker, Sahana, talked about the show. 

Elaborating on the show, Sahana said, “This is not just a family drama. Rather, it is a tassel between truth and lies. While we all take the side of truth, often facts become unbearable. Kolonko delves into the lives of a couple, Chaiti (Raima) and Rangan (Ritwick)– who are best of friends. They begin their relationship with a promise to always be truthful to each other after a painted plain truth becomes unbearable to them.”

Raima has worked with Sahana on multiple occasions. Her selection took place even before Sahana started writing the story. “Hoichoi proposed that I make something keeping Raima in the lead. Hence Even before I started writing, I knew we would be working together once again. She also agreed,” said the creator.

On the other hand, Ritwick was Sahana’s first choice. “He is the one I thought to be Rangan. However, when I called him, he did not have dates. Later, just before we were thinking of getting another actor on board, I randomly called him, as it turned out, Ritwick mistook our dates earlier. He was, in fact, free during our shooting time. Hence, all the problems got solved,” she said. 

The shooting of Kolonko took place in November. Sahana Dutta will be making the new seasons of Indu and Gora.
