Screenwriter duo Siddharth Singh and Garima Wahal, whose works include works include Bajirao Mastani, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Padmaavat, Kabir Singh , Animal, and others, are set to release their directorial, Dukaan. Actor Soham Majumder plays one of the lead characters in the film that delves into surrogacy. The film also features Sikander Kher, Monali Thakur, and Monika Panwar. On February 28, Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga will launch the trailer of Dukaan.

Soham, who worked with Vanga in Kabir Singh, is excited with the film. “I worked with Sandeep sir before and now he will come and encourage us. It is exciting,” he said. The actor also mentioned that this film was shot years ago. “We shot it in 2021 and forgot about it. I thought it would be one of those films that would never get released. However, I was wrong. I was told about the trailer launch event a few days ago. Once I attend that I will know the release date,” he said.

Dukaan is a crucial take on surrogacy in India. “It talks about how underprivileged women opted to become surrogate mothers simply for money. It is a film based in rural Gujarat,” said the actor.

This is the first time Soham will be seen with Monali. “She is great fun to work with. She is perceptive and a true artiste. She takes art very seriously. Since she is not a regular actress, she walked that extra mile to ensure she doesn’t fall short performance-wise. She, in fact, overcompensated it,” said the actor.

Despite being a Bengali actor, Soham spends most of his time in Mumbai. He paired up with Ritabhari Chakraborty in Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti in 2020. “I will only come down to Kolkata if there is a proposal of good work. I would love to collaborate with filmmakers or producers who are open to interesting work,” he said.
