Exclusive! Srijit Mukherji to start shooting with Dev and Rukmini Maitra in January?

Srijit Mukherji’s Dawsdhom Awbotaar and Dev-starrer Bagha Jatin, along with Koel Mallick Jongole Mitin Mashi and Abir Chatterjee, Mimi Chakraborty’s Raktabeej, competed with each other at the box office this Puja. All four films did well this festive season with Dawshom Awbotaar leading the scoreboard. Is Srijit gearing up for his next venture? According to sources, his collaboration with Dev’s production house is going to hit the floors by the beginning of next year.

If all goes well, the shooting of this Dev-starrer and Srijit directorial will start in January 2024. As per sources, After Dawshom Awbotaar, this film will also be a thriller. Srijit is the co-writer of the film. Speculations were rife that Srijit and Dev might have collaborated with Siraj ud-Daulah. However, sources close to the production team said that the film will be a modern thriller and not a period piece. Dev’s production house, Dev Entertainment Ventures, will produce the film. 

Earlier this year, Dev took to his social media on July 6 to announce a collaboration with Srijit. "Finally it’s official…. We are coming in 2024," he wrote along with two photos -- one with only srijit and another with Rukmini and the director.

Meanwhile, after two consecutive period films, Byomkesh O Durgo Rohoshyo and Bagha Jatin, Dev will be seen in Pradhan. After the massive success of Projapoti, Dev tied up with director Avijit Sen and producer Atanu Raychaudhuri. The team completed shooting in North Bengal and Kolkata. Recently, the poster of the film was launched. Cast members, including Dev, Paran Bandyopadhyay, Anirban Chakrabarti, and others were present at the do.

Srijit, on the other hand, went for a holiday in the US with his wife Rafiath Rashid Mithila, and daughter. The director kept his social media followers busty with updates from abroad. Later, he also attended a film festival in the UK where his directorial work Mrinal Sen’s biopic Padatik was screened.
