Vishnu Vishal, who is elated with the response to his latest release, FIR, says that it was the blockbuster success of Ratsasan (streaming on Sun NXT) which taught him many lessons in his career. He says, "The massive reception Ratsasan received from other language audience was an eye-opener for me. I decided to be more focused on selecting scripts. The works of my previous outings Silukkuvarupatti Singam (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) and Kaadan (streaming on Zee5) began before Ratsasan received unanimous response from the audience and critics. FIR is my first release after I learnt a lot from Ratsasan."
The actor-producer also acknowledges that Tamil film industry is currently going through a challenging phase like never before. But he also expresses the excitement over FIR bagging record pre-release business in his career during the tough time. According to him, it's the trust film industry has on the audience.
He says, "The pre releases business of FIR had surpassed the theatrical business of Ratsasan. This is during a time where people are discussing about whether the audience will return to theatres like the pre-COVID times or not. I truly believe that content is the king, and hence, movie lovers will watch films that offer intriguing content."
All kicked about the influx of OTT platforms, Vishnu says that he is keen to produce movies for digital avenues. He says, "I'm quite particular about the theatrical release of films which have me in the lead. But I'm elated with the response movie buffs are showering on OTT content."
He adds, "It is another medium which has come in handy for those who are interested to showcase their talent. Many are now foraying into OTT projects. I, too, might come up with interesting content which will be made under my production house."
