Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela is a 2017 Malayalam film, which stars Nivin Pauly in the lead role of Kurien, who returns home to Kerala after his mother urgently asks him to. A very laid-back youth, Kurian assumes his family wants to get him married off before being informed that his mother Sheela (played by Shanthi Krishna) is actually suffering from cancer. This sets the tone for the film, helmed by Althaf Salim, who has also co-written the script with George Kora.

The film hardly ever deviates from its path of narrating a heartwarming tale through Sheela’s battle. There is no slapstick comedy, but humorous situations that will leave a smile on your face and at times, tug at your heartstrings.
Althaf Salim proved that he is a director to look out for with Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela, and as he joins forces with the powerhouse of talent Fahadh Faasil, fans have high hopes from the upcoming film, which is slated to hit theatres on August 29, 2025, as an Onam release.
