Aditya Dhar’s The Immortal Ashwatthama came under the scanner after Vicky Kaushal reportedly walked out of the project. The director then began his search for a replacement and Ranveer Singh’s name cropped up instantly. However, we have learnt that the actor was never even approached for the project.
A source closer to the development denied the news and said that Ranveer was never approached for the film . No reports claimed that Ranveer was announced or confirmed by the makers. While the reports claim that the producers were in talks with the actor, the source denies the claims.
A report on Bollywood Hungama claimed that the idea of having Ranveer in the film was put on the table and the talks were on too but eventually, things didn’t go as expected. “Though the producers, Jio Studios, began talks with Ranveer, they soon realized, as the talks progressed, that there was a huge financial risk in taking him on board. The movie is also supposed to be mounted on a large scale and they needed an actor in whom they can safely invest their big money,” a source told the portal, adding that the makers ‘chose to let Ranveer go rather than take a big risk.’
Reportedly, the makers are now looking at brining in a pan-Indian stars like Jr. NTR or Allu Arjun to take the film to a bigger scale. Jio Studios refused to comment when we reached out to them for a confirmation.
Ranveer is currently a part of Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Alia Bhatt. The actor also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra and KJo’s Takht in the pipeline. He is also reportedly working on a yet-to-be-titled film with Shankar.
Meanwhile, Vicky will next be seen in Sam Bahadur. He plays the role of Sam Manekshaw in the film. He is also one of the many actors alongside Ranveer in Takht.
