After having made his Bollywood debut with ‘Masan’, Vicky Kaushal hit the bulls eye with the ‘hard-hitting’ film ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, a film that catapulted him into the league of versatile actors. And on the occasion of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’s clocking two years, Vicky took to social media and shared the first look of the most awaited film ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’. Just as when his fans were super happy with him climbing the success ladder, there came a bombshell of a news which stated that Vicky Kaushal is now out of the prestigious film 'The Immortal Ashwatthama' and that the search for his replacement as the leading hero had already begun.
A few days back, there was a strong buzz about Vicky Kaushal being replaced by Ranveer Singh in the film, although there was no announcement about the same or no confirmation from anyone. But, as per a latest news report in Bollywood Hungama, even Ranveer Singh has failed to make the cut with the film's makers. As per a source quote in Bollywood Hungama, it has been reported as, “The Immortal Ashwatthama' is a very expensive film, and post-pandemic, the box office has become very unpredictable. The makers are looking for an actor who can pull audiences in hordes to the cinemas. Ranveer Singh’s much-awaited film ’83 failed to appeal to audiences, especially the masses. ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ and ‘Cirkus’, meanwhile, were outright flops. Though the producers, Jio Studios, began talks with Ranveer, they soon realized, as the talks progressed, that there was a huge financial risk in taking him on board. The movie is also supposed to be mounted on a large scale and they needed an actor in whom they can safely invest their big monies. Ranveer did not fit the bill on their due diligence and hence, they chose to let him go rather than take a risk’.
A source from the industry informed us, “The news is not true, and baseless. Ranveer was not approached for the film in the first place.”
The said news report also quoted an industry insider who opined that, given the present-day stature of stars like NTR Jr or Allu Arjun, the film would become a pan India project if such actor came on board.
At the time of publishing this story, we, at OTTplay, reached out to Jio studios to get their comments on the same. When we reached out to Jio Studios, their spokesperson declined to comment.
