The trailer of Fantastic Beasts 3 has hardly credited the screenwriter and producer J K Rowling as the author spurred up controversies with her take on trans issues. The franchise is a spin-off of the Harry Potter series, which announced its third film recently, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
The movie was amid mild controversies already, while Rowling’s issue has added more grunts to it. Harry Potter author spoke out on a trans issue recently, which made her sound like transphobic to many. Following this, the recent THR reports state that Rowling’s credit in the trailer is nowhere to be seen, except for the mention of publishing rights in the final frame.
This has been a sharp contrast to the bold credits that were awarded to her in the last two movies. She was titled as the writer and producer in the previous movies.
Many see this tiny credit as an attempt to decrease Rowling’s association with the Harry Potter franchise. Instances like Rowling not appearing for Harry Potter’s 20th anniversary, the video of which will be released on January 1, 2022, has also added fire to the fuel.
Multiple incidents like Rowling expressing support for Maya Forstarer has landed her in trouble, as the latter was fired from her job for her offensive comments on transgender people. She also criticised a tweet which had a phrase of ‘people who menstruate’, instead of ‘women’. She had also expressed her concerns of being a sexual assault survivor in the context of a transgender movement.
Meanwhile, Fantastic Beasts 3 is all set to premiere on April 15, 2022. The movie has assembled a stellar cast including Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alisa Sudol and Callum Turner.
