Tamil films are back on floors since the beginning of this month after the Tamil Nadu state government announced various relaxations. Though exhibitors are hopeful of obtaining a permission from the concerned authorities to open movie halls, the government is yet to take a decision on the same. Meanwhile, industry insiders say that more Tamil movies are expected to release directly on different OTT avenues. Interestingly, a few of them are women-centric flicks which are riding high on expectations among film enthusiasts. Check out a few of them.

Billed as a revenge drama, the film which is the remake of Koran movie, Blind, has Nayanthara playing the lead role. Disney+ Hotstar had recently announced that the movie, directed by Milind Rau, will have a direct release on their platform, though they are yet to come up with a release date. The movie, bankrolled by the actress's beau Vignesh Shivan, has Ajmal, Manikandan and Saran essaying pivotal roles in it. Interestingly, Nayanthara's previous outing, Mookuthi Amman, was also released on the same OTT platform.

The movie, a bilingual made in Tamil and Telugu, is Aishwarya Rajesh’s 25th film. Produced by director Karthik Subbaraj, this horror thriller is expected to have a direct TV premiere followed by release on Netflix on the same day. Directed by Rathindran Prasad, the movie which is set against the backdrop of Nilgiri, has cinematography by Roberto Zazzara, music by Prithvi Chandrasekar and editing by Anand Geraldin. The first look of the film was unveiled a while ago by Jayam Ravi and Tamannaah Bhatia.

Raangi

The long-pending film, which stars Trisha in the lead role, has been lying in the cans for a long time. The action thriller, directed by M Saravanan, we hear, will have a direct OTT release. A source says that the makers are in talks with an OTT platform and movie buffs can expect an update on the film's release soon. The teaser of the film, which was released more than a year ago, had the actress pulling off some heavy-duty stunts. The film, bankrolled by Lyca Productions, has story and dialogues by veteran filmmaker AR Murugadoss.

The Chase

Looks like director Caarthick Raju's The Chase, which has Raiza Wilson essaying the role of an ornithologist, is the latest film which is likely to go the OTT way. The Chase was one of the first films to have gone on floors last year after the Tamil Nadu government announced easing of COVID-19 restrictions. The movie, which was shot in 18 days in Sirumalai village in Dindigul, is said to revolve around a mother, daughter and a teenager. Though the makers were keen on a theatrical release, it looks like they are already in talks with an OTT platform.

Paris Paris

The film, directed by actor-filmmaker Ramesh Arvind, which is a remake of the successful Bollywood flick Queen, was slated for a theatrical release in 2018. However, the movie, starring Kajal Aggarwal in lead, will finally release on an OTT platform. An official confirmation on the same is awaited, though. Queen was remade into all the four south languages, but none of them made it to big screens yet.
