Directed by Abbas A Rahmath, the movie marks filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj’s first production venture. Fight Club opened to positive reviews, with critics praising the movie’s technical aspects and lead actors’ performances.
Fight Club mints ₹1.92 crore at the box office on Day 2, with 21% Tamil occupancy
According to Sacnilk, Fight Club earned ₹2 crore on its opening day and minted ₹1.92 crore on Day 2, collecting a total of ₹3.92 crore at the domestic box office. The film also had a 21% Tamil occupancy rate on December 16. With the increase in positive reviews from audiences, Fight Club is expected to hit higher numbers today (on December 17).
Disney+ Hotstar has bagged Fight Club’s OTT rights?
It is said that Disney+ Hotstar has bagged Fight Club’s streaming rights. The movie is expected to be available on the streaming platform a month after its theatrical release. In that case, we can expect the OTT release of the Abbas directorial by the second or third week of January 2024. The makers are likely to officially announce the movie’s OTT release date and platform soon.
Fight Club’s plot, cast and crew
Set in North Chennai, the story of Fight Club follows Selva (Vijay) a college student, who aspires to become a professional footballer, but is frustrated due to a lack of opportunities. His anger draws him into conflicts, impacting himself and his family.
The movie features Monisha Mohan Menen as the female lead, opposite Vijay. The cast also includes Kartheekeyan Santhanam, Avinash Raghudevan, Shankar Thas and Saravana Vel. Govind Vasantha has composed the film’s music, while Leon Britto is the director of photography and Kripakaran P has done the editing.
Fight Club started rolling in 2021, and it is bankrolled by Reel Good Films and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s production house G Squad. It’s Vijay’s third project as an actor. Notably, this film also serves as the directorial debut for Abbas, who previously worked as an assistant director with Vijay for Uriyadi.
