First look of Andrea, Sibiraj's Vattam unveiled; film to skip theatres, release directly on Disney+ Hotstar

One of the leading production houses of Kollywood, Dream Warrior Pictures, seems to be on a roll. After the unanimous positive response received for Taanakkaran which was released in April, they came up with O2 which was dropped earlier this month. Both the movies had direct releases on Disney+ Hotstar.

They have now announced that another project of theirs, Vattam, will also have a direct-to-OTT release on Hotstar. The shooting of the film, starring Andrea Jeremiah, Sibiraj, Athulya, Samuthirakani and Manjima Mohan, began more than a couple of years ago. Director Kamalakannan, who made a notable directorial debut with Madhubana Kadai a decade ago, is returning to direction with the movie.

The makers have also revealed the first look of the project featuring an anxious Andrea and Sibiraj in happy-go-lucky mode. Nivas K Prasanna is the music director of the movie which has been produced by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu. An official announcement on the release date of Vattam is expected to be out soon.             

Vattam, which is billed as a thriller, marks the OTT debut of Sibiraj. The actor has had two theatrical releases this year, Ranga and Maayon. Andrea, on the other hand, has made her digital debut with Putham Pudhu Kaalai (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) which was the first major Tamil OTT content which was released during the pandemic. 

While Sibi has Ranger awaiting release, Andrea has half-a-dozen projects in her kitty, including Anal Mele Pani Thuli, which is set for a direct release on SonyLIV soon.

Dream Warrior Pictures has the bilingual project Kanam (Oke Oka Jeevitham in Telugu) and Bhola (Hindi remake of Kaithi) coming up next. The former is likely to have a theatrical release this year, while the latter will hit the screens on March 30, 2023.
