Singer Kalpana Raghavendar has allegedly attempted suicide at her residence in Nizampet, Hyderabad on March 2. It has been reported that the playback singer had consumed sleeping tablets and was found unconscious at her residence. However, she was rushed to the hospital and has been given treatment. As per reports, she is stable but on ventilator support.
Kalpana Raghavendar, a renowned playback singer who has worked majorly in Tamil and Telugu film industries, had attempted to suicide. She was found unconscious after she consumed sleeping pills. However, after her apartment security guard had alerted the other residents, given Kalpana did not open her door for two days, police were contacted.

Kalpana was rescued in time and rushed to the hospital where she has been getting treatment. She is now doing stable. Further investigations are on the way, and the reason for her suicide attempt has not yet been revealed. As per reports, Kalpana's husband who was in Chennai, has rushed to Hyderabad after getting to know the news.

Kalpana was born into a musical family and her father TS Raghavendra and mother Sulochana are also a popular playback singer. She appeared as a child artiste at the age of six, in the 1986 Tamil film Punnagai Mannan which starred Kamal Haasan in the lead role. Eventually, Kalpana too took her parents' path and went on to become a playback singer. Her debut as lead sinfer was in 1999 with the Telugu film Manoharam, which has music scored by Mani Sharma. She sang the song Mangalagouriki for the film. She has worked with ace composers like late MS Viswanathan, Ilaiyaraaja, and AR Rahman.
Kalpana took part in the first season of Bigg Boss Telugu in 2017. In Tamil, some of her famous tracks include Penne Neeyum, Thirupachi Arivaala, Poda Poda Punnaku to name a few. Kalpana has also been a stage performer, and participated in over 3000 stage shows so far.
