Forest out on OTT: Horror comedy about a treasure hunt in the jungle now available to stream

One of the many Kannada film releases on January 24 was the horror comedy Forest, featuring an ensemble cast including Chikkanna, Anish Tejeshwar, Gurunandan, Rangayana Raghu, Sooraj Pops, Sharanya Shetty and Archana Kottige. The film had opened to decent reviews, but box office success eluded it, like most other movies that have released this year. Directed by Chandra Mohan, the film took a while in the making, given that about 80% of the narrative takes place in a jungle.

Forest out on Amazon Prime Video now

Forest, which released along with Royal, joins the film on OTT this week. While Royal dropped last week on Amazon Prime Video, Forest was made available on March 14, 2025. The film is streaming with Kannada audio only, but has English subtitles. The film follows a treasure hunt deep within a jungle, a mission that becomes almost impossible because of a spirit that’s guarding it.

Aniissh, Gurunandan and Archana Kottige play cousins Suresha, Sathisha and Meenakshi, who are engaged in a tussle over ancestral property. During one such fight, the cousins manage to ‘wake up’ Meenakshi’s grandfather, who’s been in a coma for 2 decades. Turns out, he used to be a part of notorious smuggling gang and is the only surviving member. He reveals that a big treasure was buried deep in the forest and after dropping this truth bomb, the old man dies.

Suresha, Sathisha and Meenakshi head into the forest, along with moneylender Kumara (Chikkanna) and a black magic practioner Gopala (Rangayana Raghu) to uncover the wealth. What they encounter, though, is the spirit of a forest brigand, Beera, who has been guarding the treasure, along with several other ghosts under his control. What Beera is guarding is Rs 20 crore that was never recovered.

Prakash Thuminad, Sharanya Shetty, Deepak Rai Panaje, Avinash, and Sooraj Pops also star in Forest, which is based on a story by Satya Shaurya Sagar, and features music by Dharma Vish and Veer Samarth.
