The much-awaited Friends: The Reunion episode aired across the world on May 27. Within a day of its release, the episode, like expected, crossed a milestone in India.
The episode, which aired on Zee5, crossed the million mark in viewership within 24 hours of its release.
Zee Network’s president Amit Goenka confirmed the news in a statement, “We at ZEE are extremely delighted to note the roaring response that ‘Friends: The Reunion ’ received on ZEE5, by amassing 1mn+ views and counting from across the country.”
He added, “We feel extremely proud to have played a part in understanding and serving the cult-loyal audience of the show, by seamlessly streaming it across millions of screens. This is not the first time that Zee5 has attracted viewers through a popular name. They had previously partnered for Salman Khan’s latest offering Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’s release. The Prabhudheva directorial, also starring Randeep Hooda, Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff and Gautam Gulati in pivotal roles, released on Zee5 and ZeePlex’s pay-per-view format simultaneously.
While Friends: The Reunion episode is streaming on Zee5, the original show, Friends, which aired on TV from 1994 to 2004, is currently available on Netflix in India. The series is an all-time favourite for many, and because of its immense popularity, Friends constantly ranks among Netflix’s top 10 movies and shows to stream in the country.
