Funky box office Day 4: Vishwak Sen's film falters, makes only Rs 74 lakhs, set for an early OTT release

Funky is Vishwak Sen’s new film, which opened to very negative word of mouth ahead of its release. The makers promoted the film aggressively, and the interviews given by the director, Anudeep, grabbed a lot of attention. 

However, once the film was released, the way he narrated the story disappointed many and led to massive trolling. Audiences criticized it for being treated like a one-line concept stretched into a full-length film.

How much did Funky made on day 4 at the box office?

On day one, Funky made ₹2.2 crore. On day two, it collected ₹1.8 crore. Collections dropped further on day three, with the film earning ₹1.6 crore. The film failed the crucial Monday test, collecting only ₹74 lakhs at the box office. This clearly shows how the film was sidelined within just a few days of its release.

The irritating narrative style disturbed audiences, and director Anudeep is being heavily trolled. At this rate, the film is likely to be out of theatres in the next few days. This marks another consecutive flop for Vishwak Sen, who hasn’t delivered a solid hit in almost five years.

Director Anudeep gets trolled badly

Anudeep, once celebrated for Jathi Ratnalu, is now being called a one-film wonder. After that success, he directed Prince starring Sivakarthikeyan, which also bombed at the box office. Many viewers feel Prince was far better compared to Funky.

Producer Naga Vamsi made tall claims before release but later admitted that the film lacked organic storytelling and was filled only with punchlines. His open criticism added to the trolling.

Funky OTT release update

The film’s digital rights have reportedly been acquired by Netflix for a fancy price, putting the makers in a safe zone. Sources say Funky may premiere on OTT in the first week of March 2026.

Kayadu Lohar impresses with Funky

The only silver lining is Kayadu Lohar, who impressed with her appearance and performance. She has now signed a film with Nani titled The Paradise, set for release on August 21, 2026.
