The world wasn’t ready for the tsunami of content that came into our lives after HBO decided to revive the world of Game of Thrones following the end of the main series after eight seasons. While House of the Dragon has been enjoying a smooth ride with season 2 up for release, the rest of the over-five spin-offs are having somewhat of a middling time. The Jon Snow show was cancelled, and there was no news about the rest.

But it turns out that at least one of them is now moving in a very positive direction as we speak and has now even found a direction and a structure to it. The title in discussion here is none other than the much talked-about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, and there are many updates about it that have now hit the shores.

The New Title…

With the announcement that the Dunk & Egg novellas would be adapted into a spin-off of the popular Game of Thrones, we were all excited. But as soon as we heard the tentative title, all of us had one reaction: Isn't it too long? It was called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. It seems like even HBO realised that it wasn’t working and chose to compress it, removing the suffix to keep it short. So, the Dunk & Egg adaptation is now called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. This new title is more compact and easier to remember.

Black Mirror Director On Board

That’s not all. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms also has a director in place, according to new reports. It is now confirmed, as per Forbes, that the Game of Thrones spin-off will be directed by Black Mirror's Owen Harris. The update is that he will be in charge of half the episodes of the show. He is known for directing Black Mirror’s 'Be Right Back' (S2E1) and 'San Junipero' (S3E4). The show is being written and executive produced by Ira Parker and George R.R. Martin. There are no details on how much of the novellas will be covered in the first season.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode Count

This is tricky. Unlike Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, which have had 10 episodes mostly in all seasons, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is much shorter, with only 6 episodes in the first season. However, the decision also seems wise because the Dunk & Egg novellas are comparatively smaller than the rest of the source material. The show is expected to be released in 2025. There is no window in terms of a release month or date revealed to the public yet.
