We had earlier reported that Soundarya Rajinikanth will be serving as the creative producer for a series starring Ashok Selvan. Now, Amazon Prime Video has released the first look and title of its upcoming web series, starring actor Ashok Selvan in the lead role. Titled Gangs - Kuruthi Punal, the series is expected to be a period action drama and was unveiled when the streaming platform released its upcoming Indian content slate.
The streaming giant has been unveiling its pan-Indian content slate across languages, including new films and series in the making.
About Gangs - Kuruthi Punal
Actor Ashok Selvan, who has had hits like Blue Star and Por Thozhil, is gearing up for his next project. Hailing from Prime Video, the series is titled Gangs - Kuruthi Punal. The announcement and the first look were unveiled by the streaming platform on Tuesday as part of its upcoming content slate.
As per Prime Video, the synopsis of the show reads, “In this period action drama, a tale of revenge fuels a bloody power struggle within the first organised gang of a port city. Replete with smugglers, dealers, film stars, aristocrats and politicians, this larger-than-life series weaves a narrative of ambition, betrayal, and a relentless struggle for power.”

The upcoming series is produced by May6 Entertainment LLP, with Soundarya Rajinikanth serving as the creative producer. The series is directed by Noah, who has also written it along with Tamil Prabha and Prabhu Kalidas. Apart from Ashok Selvan, Gangs - Kuruthi Punal will also feature a host of talent, including Sathyaraj, Nasser, Nimisha Sajayan, and Ritik, among others. A release date for the series is yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Ashok Selvan was last seen in Blue Star, which was released earlier this year. The film is currently available on Prime Video for streaming. The actor is also part of Emakku Thozhil Romance, an upcoming romantic comedy. He is also part of Pon Ondru Kanden, co-starring Vasanth Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
