It was widely speculated till recently that Kayadu Lohar has been roped in to play the female lead in Gautham Menon's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, which has Silambarasan in the lead. But the director has now surprised everyone with the announcement that Siddhi Inani, who has done a few Telugu films, essays the female lead in the project.

He also revealed a still from the movie which features both Silambarasan and Siddhi. The actress plays Paavai in the film while the former's character name was revealed as Muthu in the teaser which was released recently. The movie was initially titled Nadhigalilae Neeradum Suriyan, which the makers changed when its first look was released.

The film marks the third collaboration of Gautham and Silambarasan after Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. Like the duo's previous outings, AR Rahman is the music composer this time, too.

Produced by Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has been written by B Jeyamohan. Siddhartha Nuni has cranked the camera for the project which has editing by Anthony. Lee Whittaker and Brindha are composing action scenes and dance movements for the movie respectively. Radhika Sarath Kumar, Siddique, Neeraj Madhav and Angela Abraham among others will be seen playing key roles in it.

The trailer of Gautham's Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha was released recently, but an update on the release of his Vikram-starrer Dhruva Natchathiram is still awaited. Dhanush-starrer Enai Noki Paayum Thota (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) was the last theatrical release of the filmmaker.

Silambarasan, on the other hand, has Narthan's Pathu Thala and Gokul's Corona Kumar in his kitty, apart from Jameel's Maha, in which he has played a cameo. His blockbuster film Maanaadu, which released a month ago, is now streaming on SonyLIV.
