Filmmaker Gautham Menon has revealed his intentions to do a follow-up film to his 2006 blockbuster Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. While promoting his latest directorial outing Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha , Gautham announced his plan to approach Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan with a proposal to make Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2.

Gautham, however, refrained from sharing more details about the project. Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu is a milestone film in Gautham's career. It played a very important role in solidifying Gautham's position in the Tamil film, industry as one of the most influential filmmakers.

Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu is a gripping crime thriller, starring Kamal Haasan as the dynamic super cop, Raghava. The film is celebrated for its genre-defining narrative. The film revolves around the efforts of a cop to stop a series of murders. The investigation that begins as an off-the-book help to a friend unravels the plot involving two psychopathic serial killers. The film mainly takes place in India and the USA, emerging as one of the memorable entries in Tamil cinema's tryst with the serial killer genre.

Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu delves beyond a mere crime thriller, offering a psychological journey into its characters, exploring human emotions amidst a gripping criminal investigation. Besides Kamal, the film features Jyothika, Kamalinee Mukherjee, Prakash Raj, Daniel Balaji, and Salim Baig.
