Gautham Menon to direct Sivakarthikeyan next for a rom-com?

Gautham Menon had announced a while ago that his project with Simbu has been titled Nadhigalile Neeradum Suriyan. Later, he revealed that the makers have changed its title to Venthu Thaninthathu Kaadu. This is the first time the filmmaker-turned-actor is making a movie set against a rural backdrop. 

Its first look and second posters, featuring Simbu in a lean avatar, was the talk of the town, as the actor shed a few kilos for his role. The shooting of the film is going on in full swing and a couple of stills from the location were leaked a few weeks ago. 

The latest on Gautham is that Sivakarthikeyan will play the protagonist in his next, which is likely to go on floors after he wraps up Venthu Thaninthathu Kaadu. Though the speculation has been doing the rounds for the last few days, looks like it is confirmed now. One of the leading names in Vels Group of Institution, which is associated with Vels Films, which has been bankrolling a few projects of Gautham Menon, took to Instagram to confirm about the collaboration. The post, which had a picture of Gautham and Siva, had a caption which read, "Sivakartikeyan and director GVM to join together for a new movie and the movie to be produced by Vels Films."  

Gautham currently has Vikram-starrer Dhruva Natchathiram and Varun-starrer Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha, too, in his kitty. His last two projects were Putham Pudhu Kaalai for Amazon Prime Video and Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru for Netflix. Sivakarthikeyan, on the other hand, has Doctor, Ayalaan and Don. Though speculation has been rife that Doctor will go the OTT way, the makers are yet to confirm the same. The film was initially supposed to hit screens on March 26, 2021, but the makers postponed it owing to a few reasons.
