Tamil movie buffs were surprised when Gautham Menon started shooting for Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha with Varun in the lead in 2019. Produced by Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International, Raahei was roped in to play the female lead while Krishna was brought on board to essay the antagonist's role in it.

Yogi Babu, Mansoor Ali Khan, Vichithra and Dhivyadharshini will also be seen in crucial roles in the movie which has Varun playing a hitman. The movie's story revolves around the protagonist who takes up the responsibility of saving a girl who is being chased by several gangsters.

It is now heard that the movie might opt for a direct-to-OTT release. In a recent interview with a media organization, the project's producer Ishari has hinted at the film skipping its theatrical release. If everything goes well, Gautham Menon's next theatrical release will be Silambarasan-starrer Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu.

The filmmaker also has the long-delayed Dhruva Natchathiram, which has Vikram playing the lead. The movie, the trailer of which was released in 2017, is yet to see the light of the day. Movie lovers are eagerly waiting for an update on the action flick.

Singer Karthik has composed music for Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha which has cinematography by S R Kathir and editing by Anthony. Though the makers' initial plans were to release the film in theatres in February, the third wave of pandemic is said to have made them reconsider their decision.

The trailer of the movie was released a month ago. Yannick Ben has choreographed action scenes in the film while Kumar Gangappan has handled its art direction. The action-packed project is said to have more than five stunt sequences for which Varun underwent immense training before the film went on floors.
