According to the latest reports, Gautham Vasudev Menon will play a police officer in the upcoming Malayalam mystery drama Varaham. This movie, which is slated for release in April, stars Suresh Gopi and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles. The film is directed by Sanal V Devan and helmed as Suresh Gopi's 257th project.

Since the filmmakers have revealed so little about the story and characters, both movie buffs and fans of the actor have been looking forward to the film with great anticipation. Expectations are further heightened by the fact that Suresh Gopi will be playing a role that he has never played in his career.
On December 18, the film's production got underway in Ernakulam. The film is being shot in Idukki, Kollengode in Palakkad, and Ernakulam.
"People assume that if it's a Suresh Gopi movie, he's either going to play a police officer or someone involved in an investigation. Suresh Gopi won't play a cop in this thriller," Sanal revealed in a conversation with OTTplay. This is a character the actor has never played before in his career. Moreover, he added, the female lead's identity in this movie is still under wraps.
The director of Sesham Mikeil Fathima, Manu C Kumar, has written the screenplay for this mystery drama. He told OTTplay that the film would not feature any mass sequences or investigations. The scriptwriter added that the screenplay was completed and put into proper form a month after he told Suresh Gopi the one-liner.
Gautham Vasudev Menon’s upcoming films
His directorials, Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram: Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam and Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha, are expected to hit the big screen this year. Gautham Vasudev Menon will also be seen in a prominent role in Tamil film Viduthalai 2 and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 109th project in 2024.
