Ghaati: From soft image to a drug peddler, Anushka Shetty opens up on her bold transformation

Anushka Shetty is not taking part in the promotions of her latest film, Ghaati, which hits the screens on September 5, 2025. As the buzz around the film hasn’t been very strong, it looks like the makers requested Anushka to step in and help with promotions. She recently made her presence felt through a phone call, which was released to the media.

Anushka Shetty finally promotes Ghaati

In the call, Anushka speaks to noted actor Rana Daggubati, who asks her about the film. Talking about Ghaati, Anushka said she was pleasantly surprised when director Krish approached her. “I was taken aback when Krish came to me with such an action drama. I even asked him, ‘Why me?’ He explained that since I have a soft image, the role of Sheela, a drug peddler seeking redemption, would suit me perfectly. As he had already given me Vedham in the past, I didn’t think much and said yes,” she recalled.

The Baahubali actress revealed that she performed several action sequences in the film. “Though doing the action was daunting, it was something new for me. Ghaati really took a toll on my body. The stunts were not easy, but I can guarantee that audiences will be shocked to see me in such a rustic avatar,” she added.

Anushka Shetty opens up on doing more films

Rana then asked why she has been doing fewer films. Anushka replied, “Even I feel I’ve been away from the camera for too long. But from next year, you’ll see more of me. I’ve rested enough and will now do films back-to-back.”

Ghaati also stars Vikram Prabhu in his Telugu debut. The trailer has already caught attention, and this phone conversation has given the film a timely boost. After being postponed twice, Ghaati is finally set for a proper release, and it remains to be seen if the film lives up to the hype.
