Ghaati postponement explained: Anushka Shetty’s look under revision

Ghaati is Anushka Shetty‘s upcoming film, which is yet to lock its release date. The action drama has already been postponed twice and will not be released on July 11, 2025, as previously reported. Although an official announcement is still awaited, the film is more or less confirmed to be delayed.

There are multiple reasons for the postponement, and one of the main ones is related to post-production formalities. We at OTTplay have exclusively learned that the VFX corrections involving Anushka's look are the primary reason for the delay.

Here's why Ghaati is being postponed time and again

Anushka's character has undergone significant VFX treatment. When the makers reviewed the output, they were not satisfied with how her look turned out. In response, director Krish has instructed his team to redo the VFX work on Anushka’s appearance in the film.

Going back in time, Anushka Shetty had put on weight for her role in Size Zero. Since then, she has faced weight-related issues, and in many of her films, VFX has been used to slim down her on-screen appearance. The same approach was taken in Ghaati, but the final results were not up to the mark, prompting the current rework and causing the delay.

Krish is known to be a perfectionist and spends a lot of time on post-production. He ensures no detail is overlooked when it comes to the look and feel of his films. Ghaati is a gritty action drama set in the mountains, where Anushka Shetty plays a village belle who goes all out in this rustic, intense story. Tamil actor Vikram Prabhu plays the male lead.

Meanwhile, Krish is also making headlines for his other film, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which is scheduled to release on July 24, 2025. Though Krish was the creative force behind the film, delays caused by Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments led him to step away. Producer A.M. Ratnam then brought in his son, Jyothi Krishna, to wrap up the shoot.

Krish makes headlines for all wrong reasons

Now that the trailer of Hari Hara Veera Mallu has impressed audiences, many are praising Krish’s vision, although, unfortunately, he is not being credited as the director. Amid all this, Ghaati has also been in the news for repeated delays. However, the makers remain unfazed and are confident about the film’s final output.
