After news spread that the makers of Shivarajkumar’s latest, Ghost, were planning a special midnight show for fans at its main theatre – Santhosh - in Gandhinagar, there was a glimmer of hope that they would perhaps also ensure that other audiences don’t have much of a wait for the next show. Ghost, it was speculated, would have early morning shows around 5-6 am, which, director MG Srinivas also said was something the team was looking into.

But when OTTplay checked in with producer Sandesh Nagaraj, he said that the first shows of Ghost would begin at 10 am only on October 19. This is despite the fact that its closest competitor, Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo is expected to have 6 am shows in Bengaluru. Even in Tamil Nadu, Leo is opening with early morning shows under a special permission, although the exact time is not yet known. With only a week to go for Ghost’s release, the online advance booking for the film is expected to open in a day or two.

Ghost, as told by Srini, is being released in about 350 screens across Karnataka. The final number of shows will be known only closer to October 19. The film will be simultaneously released in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and North India, while Telangana/Andhra Pradesh will be a week later. Even the Gulf countries release is delayed, owing to the last-minute addition of mandatory Urdu subtitles. In all other overseas regions, Ghost will release on October 19, Sandesh assured.

Meanwhile, the action heist thriller with Shivarajkumar in the lead also stars Jayaram and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. The latter will, in fact, be seen with a digitally de-aged version of the Century Star, an avatar that has got netizens speculating much, as it is set in modern day and is not a flashback as previously thought. Most of the narrative takes place in a prison, with the much-lauded Big Daddy avatar only about 20% of the 2 hour 7 minute runtime.
