The Golden Globes buzz will continue to stay relevant for the next couple of days because the world will now dissect every single victorious movie. While it is inconsequential to the movies and shows that are already winning, that dissection is quite important for the cinema culture across the globe. As we all are busy looking at cute videos from the night and red carpet, and discovering new movies that were the surprise winners, let’s get your viewing calendar sorted for a few days.

Below is a compilation of movies and shows that made a thud at the Golden Globes 2024 and where you can watch them in India.

Barbie

Cast: Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu

Director: Greta Gerwig

Available On: Jio Cinema
When Greta Gerwig decided to join forces with the now-husband Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story) and give Barbie a contemporary touch by putting forth her opinion about the gaze towards women, she ended up shaping one of the most entertaining and thought-provoking movies of the year. An over billion-dollar box office run and multiple glowing reviews later, the film is now in the award-winning haul.

Oppenheimer

Cast: Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh, among others.

Director: Christopher Nolan

Available On: Amazon Prime Video
In what turned out to be the biggest Box Office battle of 2023, Oppenheimer clashed with Barbie. The most ambitious Christopher Nolan project, starring Cillian Murphy in the lead, is based on the life of Robert J Oppenheimer. The film follows the building of the first atomic bomb and traces the politics of the time. The film has reigned at the Golden Globes and is estimated to rule all the award galas.

Poor Things

Cast: Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef

Director: Yorgos Lanthimos

Available On: NA In India
Emma Stone returned to the screen to give us one of the most nuanced performances of the year in Poor Things. Dr. Godwin Baxter brings back Bella Baxter, a young woman to life, and she runs off with a lawyer. The journey to liberation and asking for equality is so moving that the movie speaks to the audience beyond what was on the screen.

The Holdovers

Cast: Paul Giamatti, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Dominic Sessa

Director: Alexander Payne

Available On: NA in India
After a teacher is told to stay back at school to supervise a student who has nowhere to go during the holidays, the bond they form is precious. The movie was loved by the majority of the audience that saw it. It is not available on streaming for the Indian audience as of yet.

Anatomy Of A Fall

Cast: Sandra Hullar, Swann Arlaud, Milo Machado Graner

Director: Justine Triet

Available On: NA In India
One of the very few thrillers that worked in 2023, Anatomy Of A Fall is a really strong contender this award season. A wife is the main suspect in the murder of her husband. What comes next is that their blind son is named the main witness in the case. The dilemma of going against his mother and the grief of losing a father is what defines the movie.

Succession

Cast: Brian Cox, Nicholas Braun, Kieran Culkin

Director: Jesse Armstrong

Available On: HBO Max. Jio Cinema (India)
We weren’t prepared to see the end of this brilliant show yet, but it turns out season 4 was the end of the show. And the swan song had to be historic, and it won the best series award at the Golden Globes. Going by the name, what happens when the boss steps down from his position and his heirs are taking over.

The Bear

Cast: Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri

Director: Christopher Storer.

Available On: Disney+ Hotstar.
What happens when a man comes back to his roots and owns his past? The Bear is about a chef who leaves a fancy job to come back to his family’s Sandwich Shop. The Bear spoke to an audience far and wide and was one of the most popular shows. It has won multiple awards tonight and deservingly so.

Beef

Cast: Steven Yeun, Ali Wong, Joseph Lee, Young Mazino

Director: Lee Sung Jin

Available On: Netflix

What happens when you let rage consume you? Does vengeance only affect the two parties involved or take down the entire world with it? Beef is one of the most promising shows of 2023 and deserves every appreciation that comes its way. The acting performances are perfect, and Ali and Steven are two prolific performers.
