A few years ago, when filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh brought Sunny Leone to Kannada cinema for a special number in his film Luv U Alia, he decided to pair her with Srujan Lokesh, with whom he was, at the time, doing the show Majaa Talkies. Cut to now, and Srujan is only weeks away from bringing his debut directorial to the big screen. A horror comedy involving a bunch of ghosts, the film, GST (Ghosts in Trouble), features a special number called Chameli Chal, a lyrical video of which the team revealed on November 14.

Model and actress Samhita Vinya takes centre stage as Chameli and busts a few moves along with Srujan, Giri Shivanna, Tabla Nani, Vinod Gobargala, among others. The song has been composed by rapper Chandan Shetty, who has also sung it along with Anita Sara Mahesh. Lyrics are by Vijay Eshwar. GST is written and directed by Srujan and features an ensemble cast including Niveditha Gowda, Girija Lokesh, Sukruth Srujan Lokesh, Vinaya Prasad, Rajani Bharadwaj, Ashok Shobraj, Sunder Veena, Veena Sunder, Vishal Hegde, Mahantesh Hiremath, among many others.
Srujan revealed the trailer of his November 28 release recently, which did not shed much light on the subject, but what was clear that he’s able to see a bunch of ghosts. The debutant filmmaker has said that the objective of the film is to give audiences a jolly good time. How this special song features in this scheme of things remains to be seen.
GST releases along with Kannada films like Flirt, Maarnami, Operation London Café, among others on November 28, the last available date this year, before biggies like Darshan’s The Devil, Sudeep’s Mark and the multi-starrer 45 hit theatres.
