Soorarai Pottru made Tamil film lovers proud, as the Suriya-starrer, which has been produced by himself, bagged five National Awards a couple of days ago. The Sudha Kongara-directorial went on to fetch awards under the categories Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Music Director (Background Score), Best Feature Film and Best Screenplay.
The team celebrated the occasion and had taken to social media to express their excitement and to thank the audience. The movie, which had a direct release on Amazon Prime Video, was the first major Tamil film to skip theatrical release and go the OTT way during the first wave of the pandemic.
A while ago, it was announced that the project is being made in Hindi with Akshay Kumar playing the lead. Sudha Kongara and GV Prakash were retained as the director and music director respectively for the remake version. Fans of Akshay and Suriya were excited when the team revealed that the latter is playing a cameo in the Hindi version.
Now, National Award winner GV has come up with an update on the song composition for the movie. He took to Twitter to inform that he has finished composing three songs, with completely different tunes from the Tamil version. He also added that the untitled Hindi version will have a new background score.
The composer-turned-actor had earlier said that he has been learning the nuances of Marathi culture and music to come up with an impressive score for the movie, and that it has been an exciting journey.
GV is currently the music director for two upcoming films starring Suriya, Vanangaan and Vaadi Vaasal. Team Soorarai Pottru (Suriya, GV and Sudha) had confirmed a few months ago that the trio will join hands again for another movie.
