Music composer-turned-actor GV Prakash's long-delayed film Ayngaran is all set to release on Sony LIV. Sources say that the film, directed by Ravi Arasu of Eetti fame, is likely to be premiered on the OTT platform on the second week of August. Bankrolled by B Ganesh of Common Man Pictures, Ayngaran was expected to have a theatrical release in 2019 when Ravinder Chandrasekhar of Libra Productions came on board as the distributor. However, the project's release got pushed several times owing to different issues. Mahima Nambiar plays the female lead in the movie, which has Kaali Venkat, Arul Dass, Aadukalam Narein and Hareesh Peradi essaying important roles.

GV Prakash, who has also composed music for the film, will be seen playing a mechanical engineering graduate in it. The project, which was announced in 2016 by Ravi, went on floors in 2017. Prakash was the composer of Ravi's directorial debut, Eetti, too. Though Madonna Sebastian was initially considered by the makers to play the female lead of the film, Mahima Nambiar was later roped in to play Prakash's romantic interest. Ayngaran has cinematography by Saravanan Abimanyu and editing by Raja Mohammed.

Ravi, who had approached a few other heroes initially, decided to go ahead with the project with GV Prakash after the latter expressed his interest in playing the protagonist. According to the director, the protagonist of the film is someone who is capable of doing the work of five people. Ravi had earlier said in an interview that he had to make a few changes to the script after Prakash was decided to essay the film's lead. Ayngaran will be the actor-composer's first OTT release. His film Vanakkam Da Mappilei, which had Rajesh at the helm, had a direct release on Sun NXT earlier this year.
