Indian cinephiles with a blood lust for all things vampiric are in for a treat, as filmmaker Vickram’s film Half Dracula is all set for an October release, just in time for the spooky season of Halloween. Starring Amit Kumar Vashisth, the upcoming mystery thriller will reportedly release on October 15.
Half Dracula’s premise is intriguing, to say the least. A man who breaks into the house of a seemingly lost detective is shocked to find himself face to face with the vampiric form of the latter, the titular Dracula. Following some high tension mind games, the man reveals to the monstrous detective the whereabouts of a dangerous kingpin, who was responsible for Dracula’s tragic past- losing his family and home. Oh, but the thrill ride of confessions does not end there. The man responsible for the events is none other than the father of the detective's past love.
The film’s short teaser, set to the steady tick-tick-tick of a clock and accompanied by eerie music, perfectly sets the tone for the dark tale. In the very first scene itself, viewers get a glimpse of the titular Dracula, complete with his iconic shimmering cape, as he menacingly makes his way through drawn curtains in pursuit of his latest victim, perhaps. Rife with spooky imagery designed to unnerve including dimly lit rooms, wavering candle flame and rain crashing down, the trailer for the film promises some high tension moments guaranteed to rattle even seasoned horror fans.
Written and directed by Vickram, the film will see Amit Kumar Vashisth of Bell Bottom fame share the screen with newbie Toofan Verma.
