A Gothic drama featuring several prominent characters from the horror genre, Penny Dreadful tells the story of a group of unlikely acquaintances; a medium, a scientist, an explorer and an expert show, and the adventures they get themselves into facing off against monsters. The show features loose depictions of several characters from Bram Stoker’s famous Dracula novel.

Things are complicated when she falls in love with a 173-year-old vampire. The vampires in the series are depicted, not as malicious blood-thirsty creatures, but rather individuals striving for equal rights in a society still sceptical of them.
