Sri Lankan film Tentigo, which was recently released along with its Tamil version titled Perusu, is currently running in theatres. As per reports, Hindi filmmaker Hansal Mehta will be remaking the film, along with producer Sahil Saigal.
Tentigo is a Sinhala film which released in theatres last week, along with its Tamil counterpart titled Perusu. Both versions are written and directed by Ilango Ram. While the Sinhala version had actors Kaushalya Fernando, Priyantha Sirikumara, Thusitha Laknath and Ranjith Panagoda, Perusu stars Sunil, Vaibhav, Niharika NM, and others.
Certified A for its adult content, the film revolves around an elderly man who is revered and respected in the village. But when he dies with a post-mortem erection, his family has an embarrassing time holding his funeral without letting the villagers know about his condition.
The film will be remade in Hindi, with director Hansal Mehta and producer Sahil Saigal. The Hindi adaptation will also have casting director Mukesh Chhabra make his debut as producer. However, it is not yet known who will direct the film, and the casting remains unveiled as of now. Karan Vyas, who has worked in Scam 1992, Scam 2003 and Scoop, will be in charge of adapting the film to Hindi.
As per Variety report, Hansal was quoted as saying, “I’m not usually in favor of remakes, but this one had me genuinely excited. The moment I saw Tentigo,’ I couldn’t stop laughing. It was sharp, irreverent, and yet deeply emotional – the kind of story that stays with you. I believe this adaptation will resonate with audiences across India.”
Hansal Mehta's Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story is a Hindi biographical financial thriller which is based on the 1992 Indian stock market scam committed by many stockbrokers including Harshad Mehta. It is available on OTTplay Premium at discounted prices. The filmmaker also developed another series, Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, which is also available on OTTplay Premium. It is also based on a true story of stamped paper counterfeitings by Abdul Karim Telgi in the early 2000s.
