The teaser of Emraan Hashmi-Yami Gautam's Haq was unveiled not too long, and it revealed a little more about the story of Shazia (inspired by Shah Bano) and her fight against a system that was built in a patriarchal society. Thus, it has been Shazia's fight against the men leading the system from the forefront. She has been accused of not being a decent Muslim wife, and thus, she took the matter into her own hands and went to court to fight the patriarchal mindset that has let down many women throughout generations. In fact, Shazia was asked to take the divorce matter to Qazi rather than the court. “Hum sirf Musalmaan aurat nahi, hum Hindustan ki Musalmaan aurat hai. Issi mitti mein pale badhe hai. Isliye kanoon humein bhi ussi nazar se dekhe jaise baaki hindustaaniyon ko dekhta hai,” Shazia stated in the teaser.

The title Haq was confirmed recently. It comes from the makers of Manoj Bajpayee's Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, and is based on the Shah Bano case.
