Harbhajan Singh-Losliya-starrer Friendship to hit screens on September 17

The makers of Dikkiloona, which will stream on Zee5 from September 10, had recently revealed cricketer-turned-actor Harbhajan Singh's look from the film. His role as Sardev Singh will be a cameo in the movie. Now, the makers of Friendship, which has Harbhajan and Losliya Mariyanesan playing lead roles in it, have announced that the film will hit screens on September 17. 

Directed by John Paul Raj and Sham Surya, the film's story is inspired from Malayalam movie, Queen. The shooting of the movie, which commenced before the first lockdown in Coimbatore, marks the acting debut of Bigg Boss Tamil 3 fame Losliya. 

The makers had initially planned to release Friendship in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada as well. Its teaser was released earlier this year. The film, which has Arjun and Sathish among others playing pivotal roles in it, has Harbhajan essaying the role of a mechanical engineering student, who hails from Punjab. John had earlier revealed that sports, politics and a social cause will be some of the important elements in the movie which was wrapped up a few months ago. An elated Harbhajan took to Twitter to announce the release news in Tamil, along with a new poster of the film.

The translated version of his tweet read, "We are coming on September 17. The film will be a fun ride and can be celebrated in theatres like how you enjoy movies of Superstar, Thala and Thalapathy. Looking forward to your support and blessings." According to John, the cricketer agreed to do the project after he was impressed with the narration. Billed as a fun entertainer, the movie is a tale of friendship between four people. Arjun will be seen essaying a suspense-filled role in the movie, the first single of which, titled Superstar Anthem, crooned by Silambarasan, was released earlier in 2020.
