Harish Kalyan, Athulya Ravi join hands for Diesel, makers release first look posters of the bilingual project

An untitled project starring Harish Kalyan and Athulya Ravi in lead roles went on floors last year. The film hit the headlines because of the presence of Vetri Maaran and Vijay Sethupathi at its launching ceremony. The makers have now revealed the title and first look posters of the movie.

Titled Diesel, the film is said to have Harish playing a gangster while Athulya essays the role of a lawyer. While one of the posters has Harish holding the diesel pipe nozzle with an intense expression on his face, the other one has him and Athulya spending cozy time at a diesel bunk.

Debutant Shanmugam Muthusamy has directed the movie which has music composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas. MS Prabhu and San Lokesh are handling cinematography and editing respectively for the project which has Vinay Rai playing the antagonist after Doctor and Etharkkum Thunindhavan.

Produced by Devarajulu Markandeyan under the banner of SP Cinemas, Diesel will be released in Tamil and Telugu. The director had earlier revealed that he had spent close to six years writing the script for the movie. He also said that the film will be a much-needed makeover for Harish Kalyan who has been doing rom-coms. An update on the movie's release date is likely to be announced soon.

Harish Kalyan's last two outings, Oh Manapenne (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) and Kasada Tabara (streaming on SonyLIV), had direct OTT releases. His last theatrical release was Dharala Prabhu (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) which was released in 2020, a few days before theatres were shut down during the first lockdown.

Athulya Ravi, on the other hand, was last seen in Murungakkai Chips which was released last year in theatres. Her next is expected to be Sibiraj, Andrea-starrer Vattam which will have a direct release on Disney+ Hotstar.
