Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar was one of the year's biggest OTT releases. The web series premiered on Netflix and featured an ensemble star cast that included Jason Shah. The actor played the role of British police officer Alastair Cartwright. Recently, on Inside The Mind With Rushabh podcast, Jason spoke about how his character could've been made better in the series.
On the podcast, Jason Shan opened up about playing the role of British officer Alastair Cartwright in SLB's Heeramandi. The actor felt he could've worked on his character a bit more.
"I just felt we could’ve worked on it a little more, and a lot more colour could’ve come out. It had the capacity, I feel," he said. He further pointed out that his character probably lacked depth. "What didn’t happen was the depth of the character. If you look at Gandhi, with Ben Kingsley, they really show how far racism can go, and the dichotomy between who someone thinks they are, and another human being…," added Jason.
Despite that, Jason didn't point out much about his role in the Netflix series. The actor feared being a 'problem-maker' on the set.
After Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi was released on Netflix, Jason Shah expressed gratitude to the audience for their love and support. He shared a few photos on his Instagram handle with a caption that read, "Finally had a minute to watch heeramandi Thank you so much for all your love and support Comment below your favourite character and why? (sic)."
Meanwhile, SLB's Heeramandi's primary cast included Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Shaikh. On the other hand, Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman were the lead male actors of the series.
