As far as Kollywood industry is concerned, all eyes are on Ponniyin Selvan which is set to release in multiple languages on September 30. The Mani Ratnam directorial, starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi and Jayam Ravi, began its promotions in Chennai, and the team is expected to visit other cities and states in the coming days.

The movie will have box office clashes with Vikram Vedha in Hindi and Kantara in Kannada. The project, which has been jointly bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, is riding on good expectations among Tamil film lovers, and is expected to take an impressive opening on its first day.

It is known that the mammoth project is being released in two parts. The makers have been tight-lipped about the release of its second installment. At the recent promotional activity of the movie which was held in Chennai, there's an update on the same from the horse's mouth.

Mani himself has revealed that the second part will hit the screens after seven to nine months. An announcement on the exact release date will be made after a few months, though. Many cinephiles have been expressing disappointment over the team not promoting the film in an aggressive manner.

It has to be seen how far the makers can satisfy them considering the fact that the movie's release is only 12 days away. Though its teaser, which was released a couple of months ago, received only okayish response, the trailer which was unveiled earlier this month, impressed moviegoers.

The songs composed by AR Rahman have already won the hearts of music lovers. Fans of the legend are now looking forward to immersing themselves in the background music that is expected to be complemented by Ravi Varman's visuals and Thota Tharani's production design.
