The shooting of Manikandan's Kadaisi Vivasayi was wrapped up in 2018. The film, which has Vijay Sethupathi playing an extended cameo, is based on a real life character. Its first look, which had the actor sporting never before seen appearances, was released in July 2019.

Though the movie was supposed to release in the same year, the makers couldn't do it because of reasons best known to them. Further, the onslaught of COVID-19, too, spoiled their plans. During the second lockdown, there were speculation on the movie having a direct-to-OTT release on SonyLIV. However, there weren't any official updates from the team on the same.

After a long time, the makers have now come up with an update on the project, leaving fans of the director and Sethupathi elated. The much-awaited trailer of Kadaisi Vivasayi will be released on November 21. With this sudden update, film buffs hope that they will be informed about the release date soon and that it might have a theatrical release.

The film, which has Nallandi, Yogi Babu, Muneeshwaran and Raichal Rabecca Philip among others essaying important roles, has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, editing by B Ajithkumar and cinematography by Manikandan himself.

Manikandan, who made a successful debut with the acclaimed Kaaka Muttai (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar), went on to make Kuttrame Thandanai (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) and Aandavan Kattalai (streaming on Jio Cinema) in the same year. All the three movies garnered critical acclaim and were successful at the box office.

Another reason why movie buffs have been eagerly waiting for the film is the role essayed by Vijay Sethupathi. The filmmaker had earlier revealed that he had approached Rajinikanth to play the role, though the Superstar refused it.
