Hidimbha is Ashwin Babu's latest film and he pinned a lot of hopes on this project. He worked a lot on his body and underwent a terrific transformation. The young actor played a man-eating cannibal in the film and his performance in the last half an hour is one of the highlights.
Ashwin is a decent actor but is not getting the right break in his career. His filmmaker brother, Ohmkar, is trying hard to give him a push but that one hit is evading him. Well, Hidimbha was released on July 20, 2023, and received decent appreciation from critics. But this did not transform in terms of box office collections and the film was out from theaters after one week of its release.
We at OTTplay had already reported that the digital rights of the film have been bagged by Aha and the film will premiere on August 10, 2023. Now that the film is all set for its small screen outing, we have come to know an interesting update from the team.
In the film, the climax is left open and one gets a feeling that the character of Ashwin Babu gets killed. But the news in the film circles is that director Aneel Kanneganti has pitched an idea to the makers about the sequel. The director feels that there is much to the story of Ashwin Babu and how can be a threat to society if his character is kept alive.
Various permutations are being looked at as of now by the director. Though this news is not yet confirmed, it has caught on all over. Hidimbha is about the missing girls in the city of Hyderabad. The investigation then reveals that the murderer belongs to the man-eating Hidimbha clan which is portrayed by Ashwin Babu.
The film is bankrolled by Sreedhar Gangapatnam under SVK Cinemas in collaboration with Anil Sunkara’s AK Entertainments. The makers have made decent money through the digital rights of the film and we need to see if the film gets a sequel or not in the days to come.
