Hill Harper, who is best known for portraying the character of Dr. Marcus Andrews in the hit medical drama, The Good Doctor is sadly not returning for the seventh season. The actor has traded his acting career for another lucrative public service career in politics. According to sources, he will run for US Senate elections as a Democrat. Here’s what made Harper switch his career from the glamour industry to the politics.

Hill Harper exits The Good Doctor

The 57-year-old actor's exit is now confirmed and he will not be returning to the seventh season of the long-run medical series.  The carefully planned decision comes amid the intention to serve the Americans equally, bridging the narrow gap between the rich and the common man.

Actor-turned-political candidate’s campaign spokesperson told TVLine, “Hill Harper feels strongly that there is a crisis in American democracy—too often, the government only works for the rich and powerful while the rest of us struggle to find a voice. Hill is dedicating his efforts full time to fixing that, and he’s running for the U.S. Senate as an active union member to give working people more of a voice in Congress,” confirmed the official sources.

His political candidacy will see Harper running as a Democrat, and aiming for the position held by retiring Senator Debbie Stabenow. He will eventually run against Michigan congresswoman, Elissa Slotkin.

Previously in July, Harper announced his interest in running for Senate elections from the Michigan state.

The limitless actor was last seen in season 6 of The Good Doctor and in the series’ finale, his stern character Dr. Marcus resigns from the post of hospital president. Thus, paving a smooth exit for the upcoming season.
