Malayalam film Hodu is set to release in the digital space on January 22. The movie, which will be available on iStream, centers on a police station located in the fictional village of Hodu (the Hebrew name of India). Roopesh Peethambaran, who is playing a lead role in this film, recently announced on social media that Hodu will be released on an OTT platform soon.
Here are the reasons why you must watch this film, which focuses on the country's corrupted judicial system.
The police procedure and the flaws in our legal system are discussed in the film. The social thriller also depicts an incident where justice was denied but the law was adhered to. Hodu and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s 2022 film Jana Gana Mana share certain similarities, according to Roopesh's recent interview with a publication. “#JanaGanaMana was commercial, Hodu is real and raw!", he wrote.

The movie opens with the Hodu police tracking down the perpetrators of a gang rape that killed the victim, a minor, in the course of the crime. The culprits fled in terror as a result of the hideous crime, which received widespread media attention. Through an undercover operation, the police apprehended the criminals shortly after.
A common person is detained simultaneously on a minor charge. But when the police are compelled by external pressure to free one of the rapists, the situation drastically changes.
The project is directed by Anush Mohan. Roopesh Peethambharan recently disclosed to OTTplay that the movie was made on a budget of Rs 10 lakh. He claimed that "many aspiring filmmakers will be inspired by this movie to realise that films don't always need a large budget and a lengthy shooting schedule." The actor had also mentioned that the filmmakers had maintained a high standard of filmmaking, using appropriate settings and a captivating narrative approach.
Roopesh Peethambaran, Sarath Vadi, Visakh, and Harikrishnan Sanu are playing prominent roles in this social thriller. Expectations have been raised by the film's trailer, which suggests that the cast—which includes debutantes—will deliver a solid performance.
