Hotstar bags digital rights of Kamal Haasan's Vikram; here's what the makers earned in the deal

The shooting of Kamal Haasan's Vikram directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj was wrapped up recently. The team organized a party, too, for the same and a video of the event did the rounds on social media recently. The former's production house Raaj Kamal Films International has bankrolled the project.

Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Narain, Kalidas and Shivani Narayanan among others play pivotal characters in the action thriller which has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Girish Gangadharan and Philomin Raj have handled cinematography and editing respectively for the film, which went on floors in 2020.

The title teaser of the movie was unveiled on the actor-filmmaker's birthday in 2020 and a special glance was revealed on his birthday in 2021. The shooting of the project was disrupted sometime ago when Kamal tested positive for COVID and isolated himself for a few weeks.

Recently, he even quit the position of host for Bigg Boss Ultimate in order to wrap up the remaining portions of Vikram. Though the official release date of the movie is yet to be announced, it is expected that the project will hit the screens towards April end or May. 

It is now heard that Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the streaming rights of the movie. A source reveals that the digital and satellite rights of the film were sold for 112 crores. It is also heard that the makers have reaped profits from this deal itself. 

Kamal will be joining the team of Shankar's Indian 2 soon to complete the remaining portions. The differences between the director and Lyca Productions were sorted out a while ago. He will also be bankrolling Rajkumar Periyasamy's untitled film which has Sivakarthikeyan playing the lead. Sai Pallavi will essay the female lead in the project.
