The world has been obsessing over numerous upcoming shows and movies lined up for 2025-26. However, few are as highly anticipated as House of the Dragon Season 2. Meanwhile, the makers are actively developing Season 3, which is set to be the most crucial installment among the planned four-season arc. Fans have been eagerly waiting for updates, but little information has surfaced—until now. Matt Smith and Fabien Frankel, who portray Daemon Targaryen and Criston Cole, recently shared insights on the show's progress, while a new rumor sheds light on the filming schedule. Read on for all the details.

House of the Dragon Season 3 Update

Matt Smith and Fabien Frankel attended MegaCon in Orlando, Florida, over the weekend, where they were, unsurprisingly, asked about House of the Dragon Season 3. The actors revealed that they received the scripts for Episodes 5, 6, and 7 just the night before the event, meaning they already had the scripts for the first episodes as well. Since Season 3 consists of eight episodes, the team now has almost the entire script.

According to Winter Is Coming, House of the Dragon Season 3 is rumored to begin filming in March 2025, with plans to wrap up by October 2025. While storyline details and casting confirmations remain undisclosed, this update is exciting as it indicates solid progress for the show.

Ryan Condal on House of the Dragon Season 3

Season 3 has a lot to deliver, as it marks the true escalation of chaos in Westeros. With more dragons than ever battling each other, the drama will be immense. Fans have been awaiting an official update from HBO, and now, showrunner Ryan Condal has shared new insights into the production timeline on The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of podcast.

Condal confirmed that House of the Dragon Season 3 will begin production in January 2025, though he refrained from revealing the exact date. He stated, “2025 is gonna be utter madness from January third until deep in the fall when we wrap production. We do [have a start date for production], but I don't want to say it because it'll be a thing. But it’s in the first quarter of 2025.”

If previous reports align with this timeline, House of the Dragon Se ason 3 is expected to premiere on Max and JioCinema in early or mid-2026. Given the scale of the impending war and the need for extensive visual effects, the production value is set to increase significantly, which may extend the timeline further.

Both seasons of House of the Dragon are available for streaming on JioCinema in India with an OTTplay Premium subscription. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
