I cannot stand Indian Matchmaking...and I simply CANNOT WAIT for Season 3

There is so much wrong with the show, yet the very people who slam it are the ones who have turned on the notifications button on Netflix for the release of Season 3, and for good reason!

Insert face-palm emoji. Raise your hands if you are also a fan of the cringefest that is Indian Matchmaking. Of course, you're never going to openly admit to this or even call yourself a "fan", and I get that, since we are literally on the same boat (stretches hand out for a shake).

Sima Taparia on Indian Matchmaking

There is so much wrong with the show and Sima Aunty's ways that one can write several 1,000-word articles with ease. And yet, the very people who slam the show and its completely outdated and highly questionable views and methods are the ones who have turned on the notifications button on Netflix for the release of Season 3.

I know you, and I feel you, because I am you!

Nadia on Indian Matchmaking

Whether it is "Sima from Mumbai" dishing out priceless advice like, "Everything is not possible... a person doesn't get everything" (well, she isn't completely wrong here) or seeing a beautiful, successful woman like Nadia fail in love over and over again (how? why?!), the show has all the ingredients to make it a masaledaar watch, through which we can all continue to sit comfortably on our high and lofty chairs, throwing judgemental stares and tut at just about everyone who approaches Sima Tapria from halfway across the world to help them find love.

What is perhaps even more fascinating is that it is largely about Indians who are seemingly living a better life abroad and who have to resort to seeking help from a desi saat samundar paar to meet their innate need to find a partner... another desi, at that.

Expectations, expectations, expectations and then some

Everyone wants it all...
Everyone wants it all...

Oh, and the criteria list that each relationship seeker lays out on the show! When it comes to her Indian clients, one can’t help but cringe so hard that your forehead is probably going to fuse between your brows, with mummies of laadla betas having age-old unrealistic expectations and the standard "fair, beautiful, and adjusting bride".

What we are all looking for the world over
What we are all looking for the world over

This is what we are used to and have had several unending debates over; it is probably going to continue into the next millennium. What is amusing as an Indian from India is to see Indian-Americans looking for their kind when it eventually comes to settling down, yet having very low opinions of Indians from India, regardless of how progressive we actually are here.

Sima has had her share of hits and misses, and this is expected to continue in the new season.

In Season 3 that releases on Netflix on April 21, Sima will be seen matchmaking for people from New York to New Delhi, Miami to London, and even revisiting some of her former clients who still haven't been able to find love.

In the new season, you'll also be introduced to Sima's family: her husband, daughters, son-in-law, and granddaughter.

Viral and Aashay: Will they, won't they?
Viral and Aashay: Will they, won't they?

Will the American Viral find her happily-ever-after in the Indian Aashay? We’re looking forward to answers to all these and more questions that have absolutely no impact on our lives, but we just need to know them in Season 3.

Watch this space for more such opinions, and while you’re at it, drop some of yours as well.
