Ilaiyaraaja, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Krithi Shetty join Naga Chaitanya, Venkat Prabhu's NC 22

Director Venkat Prabhu had announced a couple of months ago that he is joining hands with Naga Chaitanya. Tentatively titled NC 22, the project marks the filmmaker's Tollywood debut. The Tamil-Telugu bilingual is being produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi under the banner of Srinivasaa Silver Screen.

The team had announced yesterday that they will come up with an update on the movie today. Krithi Shetty has been roped in to play the female lead in the project. Venkat took to his Twitter page to reveal the same with the post, "Welcome aboard The most happening @IamKrithiShetty (sic)."

A few minutes later, they came up with another surprise for movie buffs. None other than music maestro Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja have been brought on board to compose music for the film. The first project for which the father-son duo composed music, Maamanithan, is releasing tomorrow.

The filmmaker expressed his excitement in bringing the two musicians on board on his social media page. He tweeted, "A dream come true moment for me!! Joining hands with my uncle (periyappa) #isaignani @ilaiyaraaja for the first time along with my brother @thisisysr (sic)."

This is the second time Krithi will be paired opposite Chaitanya after Bangarraju (streaming on Zee5) which was released in theatres earlier this year. Though makers are tight-lipped about the movie's genre, sources say that it is a courtroom drama, though an official announcement is awaited on it.

The film's shooting has begun in Hyderabad, and the team is planning for a theatrical release next year. NC 22 is Venkat Prabhu's 11th project as a filmmaker and the production company's 10th film. Venkat Prabhu's last release was Manmatha Leelai (streaming on aha Tamil) which was released a couple of months ago.
